Steelhead 1/2 Ironman

Steelhead 1/2 Ironman. Benton Harbor, MI. So this week we are right on Lake Michigan on the western shore of Michigan. Kind of across the water from Chicago.
It's kind of cool here because we the expo is right on the beach.

This is a shot from our tent where we are working.

I think we arrived a day too early. Our first day was a little slow. Lawrence took a break.

Les and I stuck our feet in the water and collected some rocks.

We ate dinner at the local favorite resturant and watched the sun go down from there.

The breakfast place had this game. It about drove Lawrence and I crazy.

One morning we can out to go to breakfast and saw this car.

Then at the expo later Les and Lawrence checked out Smart Car.

Then back to work.

This was gift from one of other vendors. A case of cold ones.

One night after dinner the whole gang went and raced go carts. Big fun.

Now the whole trip was not all fun and games. We got so busy at one point I couldn't take a break to take some pictures. We made a TON of tips on the day before the race.

Even the promoters kids get put to work.

So on race day we did not do race support. That left us the morning free. After the long day on Friday we slept in and then headed to the beach in hopes of getting in the water before heading to work. When we got there we were a little surprised to find out that they had canelled the swim for the race due to large choppy waves. It had been soooo calm the night before!

The waves were like two footers.

So we just spent our remaining time before work snoozing on the beach. Lawrence of course, made it a little more interesting.

So time to get back to work. End of race stuff...pack up bikes back in boxes and load the truck back up.
As you saw in an earlier picture the trailer was parked in the sand next to the tent. Hmmm, that may not have been a good idea.

Then we had to get the big guys out there to help!

NOT! The truck didn't really get stuck. The guys were just being hams. Lawrence made sure the drive wheels for the truck were still on the pavement so he would be able to get it out!

We made our sales goals for this expo so Cid took us all out to dinner after the truck was loaded. We went to the same place we wnet to the first night. While we were waiting we checked out the park that over looked Lake MI. There was this 15,000lb civil war cannon.

Then ice cream for everyone after! They had the most amazing flavor...cake batter.

Then time to go home. This was an over head light show at the Chicago airport between terminals. It moved and would have been better is video form.
